Giving encouragement & support with skittles
Croydon Voluntary Association for the Blind prides itself on the wide range of activities it offers its clients. I recently had the pleasure of going to visit them and seeing for myself some of the things they get up to.
First up was a bowling session. Obviously, it’s quite tricky bowling when you can’t see the jack, so the members give each other detailed instructions on where to aim and how hard to bowl. There is a real camaraderie in the group and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
You can watch a video of some of the bowlers on our YouTube channel.

In the afternoon it was skittles time. Again, there was a great camaraderie amongst the players, with everyone cheering each other on and constantly encouraging people with shouts of 'Come on' and 'Great shot'. I got the job of re-assembling the skittles once they were knocked down and my back was sore from all the bending down and picking up I had to do over the course of the afternoon!
