SAB display and demonstrate pieces of equipment in its Resource Centre, which are designed to assist visually impaired people in their daily living skills, promote independence and build self-confidence.
SAB also gives appropriate support in developing social activities, new friendships and providing information about groups, clubs, holidays and services available in Sutton.
The Centre also provides support by identifying sources for retraining and employment as well as work placements for young people. It is SAB's aim to assist visually impaired people to overcome their disability and take an active part in their community through a wide range of services, which also include:
- Home visiting and regular telephone contact
- Self help groups for various ages
- A confidential reading and writing service
- A one to one outing service for personal shopping, other activities and medical appointments
- Group outings
- A quarterly newsletter 'CONTACT'
- Acting as agents for the British Wireless for the Blind
- Tuition in computer skills using speech synthesis and enlarged print, plus reading Braille
