For over 200 years SeeAbility has worked with people who are not only blind or
partially sighted, but have additional disabilities such as physical and learning
disabilities, degenerative illnesses, brain injuries and mental health problems.
SeeAbility’s aim is to enable people to realise opportunities, make choices and enhance their
quality of life. They help individuals discover their potential by encouraging independence and
developing new skills. This works hand in hand with their strategy of small
residential units and single bedded flats built in a community setting.
Funding from the Greater London Fund for the Blind helps them to provide such services as:
- disability and need assessment
- supported living
- rehabilitation for those who are blind or partially sighted
- day services with activity and resource centres providing subjects such as art,
social skills, physical and mobility classes, environmental awareness, general
education and occupational activities
- research
- residential and nursing services
