- As one of the charities HM the Queen Mother holds a patronage to, the GLFB was invited to participate in her 90th Birthday parade on Horse Guards
- Another 90th Birthday celebrated in this decade was that of our Vice President Sir John Mills
- At the commencement of the 90’s the fund was the benefiting charity for Sports personality of the Year awards
- Community and individual fundraising came into its own with supporters taking part in such events as cartoon caption
competition, Brighton to London Walks, sponsored swims and a triple jet pull at Gatwick, Heathrow and Stanstead Airports
- Geranium Day included a large collection at Selfridges with book signings from Brian Blessed, Jeffrey Archer and John Mortimer
- The 70th anniversary appeal culminated in a Reception at St James’s Palace to represent the success of raising £1,500,540
- Another 70th Birthday celebrated by the fund at the Café Royal was that of Sir Robin Day
- After 49 years at Wyndham Place, GLFB employees moved to new premises at Whitehorse Mews
