- The 1940’s marked the first 21 years of the Fund and confirmed a total of £1,068,993 had already been raised
- HM The Queen Elizabeth continued her Royal Patronage for the Fund after her marriage to George VI
- Despite the interruptions of the war, fundraising activities still continued to be successful and the
members societies fielded their blind members to help out in factories and workshops
- Many fundraising activities were supported by the Queen and her daughters, Their Royal Highnesses
Princess Elizabeth and Princess Margaret Rose, including the Christmas Stocking Appeal, attendance at
a performance of “What Every Woman Knows” at the Lyric theatre and a concert at the Royal Opera House
- Employees of the Fund moved into new premises at 2 Wydnham Place after carrying out repairs on the extensive war damage
