Greater London Fund for the Blind - The 1930's

GLFB GLFB - The 1930's
  • HRH Elizabeth, the Duchess of York, took over as Royal patron after the sad passing of the Princess Royal in 1931

  • Fundraising activities during this decade included a boxing tournament held at the Royal Albert Hall, a concert in Lady Cunard’s house at Grosvenor Square and a December Ball held at the Mayfair Hotel with music from Nelson Keys and Max Miller

  • During 1935 Geranium Day had to be changed from the traditional time of the last Tuesday in April due to the Silver Jubilee. Nevertheless, it was still a successful day raising £8,000 which would be worth almost 6 times that in today’s money!
