Koch / LME – International Charity Football Cup
On Sunday 30 October 2016, the GLFB’s corporate sponsor Koch Metals Commodities, welcomed players from South America and European countries to the 11th annual London Metal Exchange (LME) charity football tournament.
This year’s tournament was won by the UK team – lifting the trophy for the first time, to raucous celebration by spectators.
The event was also notable for another milestone – a goal scored by GLFB trustee and Koch Metals president Frans Pettinga, who came off the bench to score his debut goal after 11 years of trying!
The post-match player awards were presented by former England and Chelsea captain Paul Elliott.
This splendid tournament has raised almost £140,000 for the charity with another £15,000 expected from Sunday’s game!
The GLFB wishes to thank our sponsors Koch Industries, St. John Ambulance, volunteers & staff. We would also like to thank staff of the Royal Household for permission to use the grounds and facilities at Perks Field, Kensington Palace.
