The Greater London Fund for the Blind has launched a new door to door fundraising campaign to raise vital funds towards services provided by our nine local member charities.
Our team of door to door Fundraisers are currently working across greater London to generate much-needed support. Every regular gift we receive means another person’s life can be changed for the better. So please, consider donating a monthly gift should one of our Fundraisers knock on your door.
The GLFB, like many charities, uses this method of fundraising as it is a great way of meeting and engaging with new supporters who may wish to donate via direct debit. The donations generated through our door to door fundraising campaign enable us to support our members with increased confidence.

Our door to door fundraising is regulated by the Institute of Fundraising and the Fundraising Regulator.
This week, 13th November 2017, our door to door fundraising team will be working in Cockfosters, High Barnet, New Cross, Anerley, Forest Hill, Streatham Hill, Hammersmith and Northolt.
The GLFB prides itself on its record of fundraising to the highest standards. The charity is registered with the Fundraising Regulator (FR) and we are a member of The Institute of Fundraising (IoF). Our door to door fundraising campaign fully adheres to the code set out by the organisation.
All our Fundraisers are directly employed by the GLFB (we are not using marketing agencies). They are fully trained to ensure they follow GLFB’s fundraising guidelines and that they operate within the strict rules set out by the of which we are accredited members.
Our Fundraisers are typically aged between 20 and 40, wear Greater London Fund for the Blind branded clothing (T-shirts or jackets, depending on weather conditions) and carry a branded photo ID card with a prominent badge number. The badges also carry the IoF logo.
To keep supporters’ information secure all personal information is encrypted once the direct debit instruction is set up.
Each team of Fundraisers is accompanied and supervised by a Team Leader who is there to provide assistance where required and answer any questions you may have.
To minimise any inconvenience our Fundraisers only work Monday to Friday, between the hours of 2.30pm and 8.30pm.
Our Fundraisers undergo intensive training to ensure they understand what is expected of them when engaging with members of the public. For instance, they will know that, according to the IoF’s code and associated rule books, Fundraisers shouldn’t pressurise the public to give their support, but they can use reasonable persuasion. If you tell them you’re not interested, the Fundraiser should politely stop their approach and leave your doorstep.
The request for support
The aim of the door to door fundraising campaign is to raise long-term funds for the GLFB through regular monthly gifts of around £6 to £12, paid via direct debit. Our Fundraisers are not allowed to ask for, or take, cash donations.
